The Healthy Truth About Soy

As the debate whether soy is good for a person’s health or not rages on, I am reminded of an important fact that no one seems to talk about.  What about Asia?

Let’s take a moment to examine all the hype from the opponents of soy foods who continue to say that consuming soy will give you cancer or shrink your brain or that soy will cause pretty much every organ in the human body to fail or go horribly wrong.

When people ask me if soy is good or bad, I share the research that exists on the issue and refer them to the people of Asia. I have been to Japan on numerous occasions and know from personal experience that it is true that they are healthier and live longer.

Asians have significantly less of the ailments that plague western societies, their brains aren’t shrinking and their children are healthy. The Japanese consume many types of soy every day…tofu, miso, tempeh, natto, soy milk, etc. and have for thousands of years!

These are the facts, that soy is not going to kill you and may just help you live a longer, healthier life.Fermented soy, such as tempeh and miso can enhance digestion and increase the amount of vitamins and minerals, by making them more bioavailable.

A year ago I chatted with a person who was overweight and generally out of shape, with high cholesterol, partially blocked arteries and all of the ailments associated with these conditions. They stopped eating the high fat western diet and made the switch to a healthy diet that included soyfoods, such as, natto daily. In a very short time, their arteries cleared out, they lost the weight and were feeling much better.

So when you feel like you don’t know what to believe, just look to the east, where a daily diet of soy has been proven safe and effective for thousands of years.
